County Longford in Song

County Memory

The memory behind Longford in Song

County Longford carries a practical inland character: roads, fields, towns, family names, parish memory and steady community life. It is not usually presented as a postcard county, which makes it especially suitable for a project that wants to listen to real places.

In Ireland in Song, Longford can become a county of dignity in ordinary life. Its songs may speak of quiet roads, schools, churches, farms, towns, local work and memory carried through families. The tone should be honest, warm and respectful.
